Why Ceramic Braces
Even though traditional metal braces are our most popular treatment option, ceramic braces can be a great choice for some patients. Also known as “clear” braces, they are a new twist on conventional metal brackets and are much less noticeable. Not all ceramic braces are the same, with some much less noticeable than others. At Henneberry Orthodontics we use the best ceramic bracket on the market, and our patients love it! What’s even better is we do NOT charge extra for upper ceramic braces. We believe that if you prefer ceramic braces, then you shouldn’t have to pay more for them. Other offices typically charge hundreds extra for this option, but not with us!
Although technology around ceramic brackets is always improving, they sometimes can be a little more prone to breakage than their metal counterparts. Also, with deep bites it is sometimes not indicated to use ceramic brackets on the lower teeth. We are often asked about staining, and while the brackets themselves don’t stain, the elastic ties can become discolored with habits such as smoking or drinking wine and coffee. The good news is you will get new elastics at every visit, so you don’t need to worry too much about indulging in your morning cup (or cups) of coffee!
Who Are Ceramic Braces Ideal For?
Ceramic braces are ideal for the adult patient who wants braces that do not stand out, but who doesn’t want to keep up with clear aligners like Invisalign. Another popular option for teens and adults are clear braces with colored elastics that “pop”. It’s a unique look that is popular with some of our patients.
